Franklin County Agricultural Fair Offers Diverse Musical Performances

Attendees to the 2016 Franklin County Agricultural Fair will be entertained and treated to a range of musical styles performing Wednesday, Sept. 14 through Saturday, Sept. 17 at the Franklin County Recreation Park, 2150 Sontag Road in Rocky Mount. The Harvester Stage, sponsored by Harvester Performance Center, will feature a dynamic lineup of seven professional bands and an open stage for community musicians.

Regardless of age or music genre, the open stage will provide musicians in the community an opportunity to showcase their skills and talents in front of a live audience. The opportunity is only available to current and past residents of Franklin County, who will be given a 15-minute slot. Each performer will receive one (1) free admission ticket to the fairgrounds. There is no charge to perform. A limited number of slots are available on a first-come basis and advance registration is required. Those interested with participating in the open stage can contact stage manager Alex Young at (540) 420-1973 or e-mail Info@FCAgFair.com.

The scheduled bands performing on the Harvester Stage are: Mason Creek (Wednesday from 6 – 9 pm), Bishop M. L. Hardy and the Sons of Thunder (Thursday 6 – 9 pm), Town Mountain (Friday 6 – 8 pm), The Hackensaw Boys (Friday 8 - 10 pm), True Cadence (Saturday 3 - 5 pm), Corey Hunley and the Millionaires (Saturday 5:30 - 7:30 pm), and Live at the Fillmore (Saturday 8 - 10 pm).

“The 2016 Franklin County Agricultural Fair is shaping up to be a real treat for the community.  It promises to be a little different than your typical county fair.  The music is no exception,” observed David Rotenizer, tourism development manager with the Franklin County Division of Tourism & Film and chairman for this year’s event. Alex Young added, “I think it is great that we are allowing local citizens an opportunity to perform on stage.”
