2017 Franklin County Agricultural Fair Open Horse Show

On Saturday, September 9th, the Franklin County Agricultural Fair Open Horse Show will serve as the official kick off to this year’s fair.

The horse show will take place at Shadow Ridge Stables, 10120 Booker T. Washington Hwy in Wirtz. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. and the show will start at 10 a.m. Following the Open Horse Show, the FCEC Turn & Burn Series will kick off. The events are free to the public.

Organized and presented by the Franklin County Equestrian Club, the horse show will feature 71 competitive classes, and be sanctioned by the Blue Ridge Horse Force (BRHF) and Franklin County Equestrian Club (FCEC). Ribbons will be given in 1st through 6th place with Championship and Reserve Championship awarded in English, Hunter, Ranch, Western, Walking/Racking, Gymkhana ~ Junior, Youth & Adult and Game divisions. Concessions will be available.

Spectators are welcome – Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the show!

Driving Directions to Shadow Ridge Stables:

From Roanoke:
Take 220 South towards Rocky Mount. Take left onto Wirtz Road/Route 697 (Intersection at Plateau Plaza & Tractor Supply) and continue for approximately 9.2 miles. Take left onto VA-122 North for abot 4.2 miles. Shadow Ridge Stables will be on your right.

From Rocky Mount:
Take VA-122 North for approximately 10.2 miles. Shadow Ridge Stables will be on your right.

From Bedford:
Take VA-122 South for approximately 23.7 miles. Shadow Ridge Stables will be on your left.

From Martinsville:
Follow US-220 N towards Rocky Mount. Take exit towards VA-40, VA-122. Turn right at light onto Old Franklin Turnpike. Take left onto VA-122 North for approximately 10.2 miles. Shadow Ridge Stables will be on your right.
