2017 Miss Franklin County Agricultural Fair Pageant

The 3rd annual event was held on Saturday, Sept. 9th at Benjamin Franklin Middle School in Rocky Mount.

On Saturday, September 9th at Benjamin Franklin Middle School in Rocky Mount, the Miss Franklin County Agricultural Fair’s pageant committee hosted the 3rd annual event with 38 contestants.

Contestants resided in Franklin County and surrounding counties that were within four hours (without a fair pageant program). Every contestant received a crown and gift. Winners received crown, sashes, and trophy in addition to gifts. The winner of the Miss Division, received a $500 cash scholarship, $500 in-kind scholarship to Patrick Henry Community College, and represented Franklin County in the 2018 Miss Virginia Association of Fairs Pageant in Hot Springs, VA.

The pageant crowned winners in the following divisions:

  • Junior Miss: Ages 13-16 • Christia Hancock
  • Miss: Ages 17-22 • Jessica Brevard
  • Ms.: Ages 23+ • Julie Witcher
  • Miss Outgoing Personality • Lindsay McCrickard
  • Spirit of Miss Franklin County Agricultural Fair • Shanaya Jones

Contestants in Beautiful Baby competed in an outfit of choice (Harley wear, gown, dress, suit, etc.) and photogenic (optional). Contestants in the Wee Baby through Ms. Divisions competed in gown and photogenic. They modeled in gown twice. Contestants in the Junior Division competed in gown, photogenic, casual, and an on stage question during casual wear. Contestants in the Miss Division competed in gown, casual, interview, onstage question, platform speech, and photogenic. Platform speech was during casual wear and onstage question was during gown. Photogenic photo was black and white.

All contestants were eligible to win Miss Outgoing Personality 2017. In order to win Outgoing Personality, contestants collected funds. The contestant with the most amount of funds collected in her/his name won. Winner received a crown, sash and trophy. The division in which a contestants competed was determined by their age on the day of competition.

Two new titles were added for 2017. Spirit of Miss Franklin County Agricultural FairThe title was given to a new participant as recognition for his/her hard work and effort as a contestant in the pageant. Ms. Franklin County Agricultural Fair – This title was given to a contestant age 23 and older, married, or a parent.

The Miss Franklin County Agricultural Fair Pageant is organized and run entirely by local volunteers. Funds raised from the pageant go toward the scholarship fund for the Miss Franklin County Agricultural Fair, a preliminary to the Miss Virginia Association of Fairs Pageant.
