Franklin County High School FFA Alumni Chapter
Tractor Driving Competition (Outer Field)
Friday, September 16 (6 p.m. - 9 p.m)
The FCHS FFA Alumni Chapter was started to support our local FCHS FFA Alumni with scholarships, assistance with coaching student competitions and General Ag knowledge. The tractor driving competition is a current contest that has its roots way back in the early days of agriculture education and has been resurrected at the Fair to appeal to former FFA members who may have competed long ago - or not so long ago. The course consists of a roped-off 'shed' that the driver must back into, hook up to a hay wagon, then negotiate into the alternate side of the shed. The contest is timed and drivers are penalized for grinding gears, skidding tires, going outside the prescribed course, and general unsafe conduct.
This is a walk down memory lane for a lot of former FFA members! The alumni folks hope to encourage membership in their chapter, thus continuing the strong Ag traditions in Franklin County.
