At the May 18th Board of Supervisors meeting, a consensus of the Board asked staff to look into the possibility of hosting an event in the fall. At this time in 2021, the COVID-19 vaccination rates and restrictions are vastly different than in February and the County Board Members acknowledge this progress. It is the hope that citizens will attend the County’s hosted in-person events this summer and into the fall. To that end, Franklin County wants to emphasize its desire to provide family-friendly, safe, and enjoyable events and will make every effort possible to provide these opportunities. Staff is constantly reviewing potential iterations of events that make sense given the facts we know today. Given the Board’s direction on May 18th, our staff is currently looking at options for this year’s Agricultural Fair or some variation of it.

After careful review and consideration, the County has decided to cancel the 2021 Franklin County Agricultural Fair. This was not an easy decision but was made out of an abundance of caution due to the uncertainty associated with the present and anticipated lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The County values the safety of our citizens, staff, and volunteers above all other considerations and cannot ensure public health during this event at this time. Given the inability to properly social distance within the close quarters of the fairgrounds, the cancellation of this year’s fair is an unfortunate but necessary action.
The County fully expects the Franklin County Agricultural Fair to be back better and bigger than ever in 2022. It is anticipated the Eighth Annual Franklin County Agricultural Fair will be held 14-17 September 2022.
Thanks for your continued support of the County Fair and your understanding of the decision to cancel this year’s event.
Join us in 2022 – September 14-17, to savor the Franklin County flavor of tradition, fun, and discovery. We look forward to seeing you next year!

The concept of agricultural fairs originated in farming communities as an opportunity for folks to come together for fellowship and a celebration of the fruits of labor and bountiful harvests.
Experience the excitement of tractor competitions, midway rides, music concerts, live entertainment, competitive and educational exhibits, demonstrations, animal shows, petting zoo, horse show, fair pageant, contests, games, food, and fun – lots of fun!
